Peru Adoption News Update

Peru Adoption

New Beginnings worked successfully for many years in Peru until the government closed down the program to reorganize. We have now been authorized by the Bureau of Adoption, the Central Peruvian authority, to provide adoption services for Peruvian children once again.

We are working with a representative who will coordinate your trip and help you throughout your stay in Peru. The children we are placing appear to be well cared for in institutions from all areas of Peru.

Children Available- Boys and Girls, Young and Old

Adopt a child from PeruChildren of all ages are available from Peru and you may state your preference in sex, age and racial preference. All will be considered, however, you will not qualify to adopt an infant unless you and your spouse are under the age of 35. Singles are accepted but children placed will be three years old and older.

The medical information received on the children appears to be adequate and reliable enough to make a decision to accept an assignment.

Length of Time – Varies

Currently, families with Peruvian family heritage will be accepted more quickly and usually placed with a child within one year. Families who wish to pursue the Peru program and have no Peruvian background can wait up to two years for a placement. In addition, time factor can depend on what age, sex and any other preferences you may have.

Once a child is found for you and you accept, travel to adopt your child is very quick.

Travel – Yes

Foreign travel is required in this program. Both spouses must travel to complete the adoption. Your stay could be as long as six weeks but could be as short as four weeks. You will be assisted during your stay by our representative to complete all adoption related processes, travel to your child’s adoption jurisdiction, sightsee, etc. Most families really enjoy their stay and make a long vacation out of their time spent in Peru absorbing the culture and getting to know and love the people.

Peru adoptionsIs Peru Right For You?

Families wishing to adopt a child from Latin America should seriously consider the Peruvian program. The children placed to date have been healthy and happy. Peru will consider couples and singles, however, those with a Peruvian heritage will be accepted more quickly. The time to complete this program can be from one to two years.

Peru also has strict requirements regarding the ages of the adoptive parents and the ages of the children assigned to you. If you wish to parent an infant you must both be under the age of 35. Travel for this extended length of time may be difficult for you.
